Nude + Miniature

Alright, so I've decided to combine both the nude female figure with miniatures. I want to use the curves of the female form to set the scene for my miniature figures. I want it to be high key, where only the shadows of the nude body define its form. and place emphasis on the miniature figures (which will be darker). I think I want to try shooting with the Mamiya to get better detail in the textures of the skin and figures. I have my model, I just have to wrangle me some miniatures.

My goal is to play with size relationship between the human figure and the miniatures, and how the female figure's curves act almost as a landscape for this miniatures.

Here is a reference shot I found online of the size relationship and cropping I want to play around with.

Let me know what you think!

  1. It all sounds good... granted I'm not sure if the Mamiya is necessary, but apples/orange. I like to see some of these images soon to get a better sense of how the still life and nude will work together. Also focus a little more on what you want the images to say. Are they about the body as landscape, body and image, or body as object? Is the body a backdrop or the focus... literal or physiological... porn or the classical nude. Check out Elinor Carucci, Mapplethorpe, Francesca Woodman, and Jo Whaley.

  2. It may be cool to think about the food-scapes and use something like that with the figure. It sounds cool, but I wonder what roles the miniatures will play, other than just sitting on this figure landscape.

  3. The figure is going to be more of a landscape. I bought miniatures that would set a scene, for instance golfing or fishing... for the fishing scene i was thinking of putting some water inside of the belly button and making it a "lake". I want it to be more about the figures, but placing then on a non-conventional landscape setting.
